Part of Le Vestiaire des Parfums, Trench pays tribute to one of Yves Saint Laurent’s most timeless and sensual creations — the trench coat. Originally designed for English officers, the trench was reinvented by YSL in 1962 to embody sharp elegance and understated sensuality. Its silhouette balances structure with softness, strength with allure — a duality at the heart of the YSL style.
To evoke this iconic couture piece, Master Perfumer Alberto Morillas and Senior Perfumer Amandine Marie selected one of the most precious materials in perfumery: orris butter (iris concrete). Harvested from the roots of Iris pallida and aged for six years, this rare ingredient unfolds powdery, woody, suede-like tones that mirror the tactile sophistication of a trench coat’s fabric against the skin.
A luminous rainfall of citrus accords brightens the composition, adding a sparkling freshness to the refined, elegant iris core. The result is a fragrance that is radiant, textural, and infinitely chic — much like the trench coat itself: sharp, sensual, and effortlessly timeless.
